Dream Escape

The water shimmered with the radiance of a thousand rainbows
shimmering rays of light shining through
eyes gleaming with the brilliance of magic
its existence is lost, now isn't that tragic?

Breath of fire bursts the air
body breaking at the sound which leaves your heart bare
an emptiness prevails which cannot heal 
the beast is just a myth, or is it reality long forgotten?

Legend or imagination need not matter
dreaming is what keeps us together
understanding its intentions provides the escape
wishful thinking is not up for debate

lost in thoughts that are frighteningly real
outsiders wondering if my mind will ever heal
never are the desires of my creative inner fire exposed
dash out the flames with that cold stern glare 

a brilliant yet subtle array of colors penetrates to the soul
taking in its essence will lull you to rest
escaping into a realm of REM
hoping never to wake up to the world that we share
